Text: Philippians 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 4:17; 1 Timothy 1:2; 1 Timothy 1:18; 2 Timothy 1:2; Genesis 1:26-27
Introductory remarks: Today is Father’s Day, and happy Father’s Day to all us dads! If this were a normal year, I’d have some Father’s Day something for us, like WD-40 or duct tape or a Starbucks card, but many of you dads are home today, and I hope you’re joining us on our live-stream – and here’s what I want you to do today: Just relax and enjoy the day. Fire up the grill, get something cold and refreshing out of the garage frig, eat a wonderful lunch or dinner, and spread a little love around to your family. And when they want to give some back, just take it. But enjoy the day!
My target is to talk to us dads, on this Father’s Day – and while I’m not suggesting that we’ll get it all down, or that we’re even capable of getting it all down, I’m giving us something to guide our thinking and dreaming processes by today.
I have some confident dad stuff to talk about, so here we go . . . patterned after our Heavenly Dad . . .
1. God is Spirit – John 4:23-24
2. God is love – 1 John 4:7-8; 1 John 4:16-17
3. God is true – John 3:31-35
4. God is able – Luke 3:8; 2 Corinthians 9:8; Hebrews 11:19
5. God is faithful – 1 Corinthians 1:9 & 10:13
6. God is light – 1 John 1:5-7; John 3:19-21
For further study, application and discussion: What have you heard the Holy Spirit saying to you today and what are you going to do about it?

Big confession for today:
“I am created –
In His image,
With His character,
For His purpose!”
