Devotional thoughts

It’s December!  It’s Christmas time, and Christmas is all about Jesus!  So I’ve chosen to lay out the December devotional reading calendar around the life of Jesus, but in a different manner.  We’ll start the month by picking up and following the ministry of Jesus from His temptation time – this chapter immediately follows Luke’s rendition of the genealogy of Christ – and we’ll follow His ministry until a few days before Christmas, at which point we’ll switch our reading back to the nativity stories from Matthew and Luke.  Then, after Christmas week, we’ll finish the book of Luke, and look at John 1 as our last reading of the old year, to focus on who our Source is for the coming year.

So there you have it.  And, if you’re anything like me . . . seems like we’re all in this thing called ‘life’ together . . . we need constant reminders of who Jesus is to stay focused on His primacy in our little worlds.  His birthday reminds me of that.  And reading about His life, again, reminds me of how important He is to me.  I never get tired of wandering along through the life of Jesus through the eyes and reports of the Gospel writers, and I always learn something new and see something I hadn’t noticed before.  So come along with me, one more time, as we see and hear the life story of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and soon-coming King.

Merry Christmas!

Shalom . . .
