Jan James, Council Treasurer

I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, then moved to the U.S. after I finished high school.  I married and God blessed me with two beautiful children who gave me 4 wonderful grandchildren, who are the best, the brightest and the most awesome grandkids ever!   I moved around the Puget Sound area a little, finally settling in the Buckley area in 1996.  As soon as I saw the plateau, I just fell in love with it.  I started attending Cedar Community Church in the fall of 1996 when, at a ‘chance’ meeting (meaning a God appointment) with Mary Pratt who was subbing at the White River School District where I was working at the time, she invited me to her husband’s church on Sunday.  I came that first Sunday and never looked back – I had found my church home and family!  And what a blessing this family has been to me!

I asked what I could do to help support God’s ministry here at Cedar Community Church and was told they needed help in the Women’s and Children’s Ministry, which I was glad to do.  Then around 2000, Dale asked if I would be willing to help with the office administration duties and join the board (the FIRST woman ever!) here at CCC.  I happily accepted and have been doing that ever since.  It is a journey of faith and love for me – one for which I will be forever grateful to my Heavenly Father – for introducing me to this wonderful, loving, supportive body of His people!  He knew where I needed to be and slowly, lovingly brought me ‘home!’
